Systems Architecture & Documented Implementations

Security & Disaster Recovery Systems

Context

This project documents security hardening and disaster recovery systems applied to WordPress sites and supporting server infrastructure. The emphasis is on reducing operational risk, improving resilience, and ensuring predictable recovery outcomes rather than responding to isolated incidents.

The work spans multiple environments and is aligned with broader security hardening systems and deployment and migration systems used across the site.

Architecture & Approach

The architecture combines layered preventive controls with recovery‑oriented design. Preventive measures include patch management, access control, configuration hardening, and credential governance. Recovery mechanisms include backups, restoration testing, and defined failover considerations.

Security and recovery are treated as system properties rather than add‑on features. Decisions favor clarity, observability, and verifiable recovery paths over complex or opaque tooling.

Implementation Notes

Implementation activities include server and application hardening, access policy definition, monitoring configuration, and the establishment of documented response and recovery procedures. Image‑based and file‑level backups are used to support rapid restoration.

Recovery workflows are periodically validated to confirm backup integrity and restoration feasibility. Changes to security controls and recovery processes are documented to support consistency across environments.

Operational Considerations

Operational use prioritizes readiness, repeatability, and accountability. Clear ownership, documented procedures, and tested recovery paths reduce reliance on ad hoc decision‑making during incidents.

The documented systems support continuity of service and faster recovery after failures. Observed outcomes and tradeoffs from this work are further examined in related case studies as they are added.
